Congenital H&N Masses
Congenital head and neck masses occur at birth, and commonly include thyroglossal duct cysts (near the middle of the neck), branchial cleft cysts, or dermoid cysts (on the scalp, face or neck).
Symptoms
Bump(s) located anywhere on the scalp, head or neck at birth. Susceptible to infection.
Causes
Head and neck masses present at birth are congenital.

Options
While most neck masses are benign, imaging and blood tests may be ordered to confirm the absence of cancer. It is advisable to remove many congenital masses to prevent infection and increase quality of life.
